The relationship between SEO and GEO
You’ll hear vendors say "SEO is dead, do GEO instead." This is wrong, and the evidence is in our own audits: brands with strong traditional SEO show up in AI answers more reliably than brands without. AI engines weight authority signals heavily, and the cleanest signals come from the same things that have always worked — high-authority backlinks, long content half-life, technically clean sites, and the schema.org markup Google itself defined. SEO is the floor. GEO is the next floor up. You don’t skip floors.
What we actually do
- Technical SEO. Crawlability, indexability, sitemap.xml hygiene, robots.txt audit, canonical-tag correctness, hreflang where applicable, redirect-chain elimination, JavaScript-rendering audit (because most modern frameworks ship a SPA that breaks Google’s crawler).
- Core Web Vitals. LCP, INP, CLS measured weekly via real-user data and synthetic. We tune the actual page, not the lab score.
- On-page optimization. Title tags, meta descriptions, H1–H6 hierarchy, internal anchor text, structured data, image alt text, schema.org coverage. The fundamentals.
- Link acquisition. Earned links from real publications, podcast guesting, expert quotes in trade press, industry-data partnerships. We do not buy links, we do not exchange links, we do not run private blog networks. Google catches up to those plays in 12–18 months.
- Content cluster strategy. Topic-pillar architecture — the move that finally got most B2B sites past their SEO plateau. We map your category, identify the pillar pages, and write the supporting content that lifts them.
How this combines with GEO
Our retainer pricing reflects this: SEO Foundations is included in every Tier 1+ engagement. Brands that come to us asking for "AI SEO only" leave with a retainer that does both, because we won’t take an engagement we can’t deliver durable results for. Half the work in winning AI engines is the same work you needed to do for Google five years ago and didn’t.
